Salary: USD 221,000 - 260,000 / annual

Cedar is a healthcare fintech company on a mission to make healthcare more affordable and accessible by addressing the leading cause of personal bankruptcy in the U.S. The company is expanding its product offerings, with payments at the center of all initiatives. You will lead the Payments Pillar as a Senior Engineering Manager, overseeing two payments teams composed of individual contributors and engineering managers. Your primary focus will be evolving Cedar's payment platform to support new product offerings at scale. Key responsibilities include: - Leading and developing engineering managers and individual contributors across the Payments Pillar - Partnering with staff and principal engineers to architect the evolution of Cedar's payments infrastructure, decoupling payment capabilities from business logic to enable scaling across multiple product lines and agentic workflows - Establishing metrics and instrumentation to understand payment feature and workflow performance - Owning the engineering relationship and technical outcomes for third-party payment vendor integrations - Balancing new payment capabilities and performance improvements with foundational architecture and operational investments in partnership with Product and Commercial teams - Identifying and leading cross-team initiatives that improve delivery effectiveness You will work closely with technical leaders to shape direction, evaluate tradeoffs, and take accountability for outcomes. While you won't necessarily write code daily, you should be comfortable engaging deeply in design reviews and technical decisions, understanding your services thoroughly, and maintaining accountability for results. Required qualifications: 8+ years professional experience, 3+ years engineering management (including managing managers), experience owning third-party vendor integrations, track record owning business-critical production systems, strong cross-functional partnership skills, ability to balance speed with quality, clear communication, and commitment to team development. Preferred: payments or fintech domain experience, experience modernizing complex systems, experience with agentic or AI-enabled workflows at scale, and familiarity with AI-assisted development practices.
