Tomorrow.io's Space & Sensors team is developing next-generation RF-based sensing systems, including software-defined radar and weather satellite constellations. As a Senior Embedded Software Engineer on the Space and Sensors software team, you will design and deliver mission-critical embedded and application software in C++ and Rust for radar payload platforms and spacecraft subsystems. Your responsibilities include: • Develop mission-critical embedded and user applications in C++ and Rust that support configuration, command, control, and interface functionality for SoC-based radar payload platforms, enabling operations for Tomorrow.io's software-defined radar system and weather satellite constellation. • Design and implement robust software components and interfaces connecting ConOps processors, payload controllers, and payload subsystems to enable coordinated spacecraft and sensor operations. • Deliver reliable, maintainable embedded software by writing well-structured, testable C++ and Rust code that contributes to scalable software architecture and long-term system maintainability. • Collaborate with firmware, hardware, and systems engineering teams to integrate application software with embedded platforms, payload electronics, and spacecraft subsystems. • Debug and diagnose issues across software, firmware, and hardware boundaries using embedded debugging tools and system telemetry. Required qualifications: • 6+ years developing embedded software in C/C++ and/or Rust, with proven experience writing reliable, maintainable application-level code for embedded systems. • Strong experience with embedded Linux (Yocto Project, PetaLinux, Buildroot) and RTOS (FreeRTOS, Zephyr). • Experience developing for ARM/FPGA-based SoC platforms (Xilinx Zynq or similar) for mission-critical applications in aerospace, automotive, or medical domains. • Proficiency interfacing software with embedded systems and low-level interfaces, including I2C, SPI, CAN, and AXI communication buses. • Experience debugging across software, firmware, and hardware boundaries. This role requires access to controlled U.S. technology and is restricted to U.S. citizens, permanent residents, and protected individuals unless required licenses are obtained.
