MX is a fintech company empowering financial institutions and their customers through intelligent financial technology. The company powers financial experiences for thousands of banks, credit unions, and fintechs, serving millions of end users. MX is undergoing a critical technology evolution: migrating from legacy on-premises infrastructure to a modern, cloud-native platform built on Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and Kubernetes.
As Senior Cloud Platform Engineer, you will lead the end-to-end migration of production workloads from on-premise data centers to GCP, architecting for reliability, security, and developer velocity. Your responsibilities include:
**Core Responsibilities:**
- Drive production workload migration to GCP with zero customer-impacting regressions
- Design and implement production-grade Kubernetes environments and GCP architectures targeting 99.99%+ availability
- Improve incident triage and recovery time through cloud-aware diagnostics and automated recovery patterns
- Reduce developer friction by optimizing platform response times and ensuring reliable, repeatable deployments
- Embed security and compliance controls into platform abstractions (policy-as-code, identity, networking) in partnership with security and compliance teams
- Build patterns and shared tooling that enable the broader engineering organization to operate confidently in the cloud
**12-Month Success Metrics:**
- Successful migration of production workloads to public cloud with documented architectures and operational runbooks
- Sustained 99.99%+ availability during and after migration
- Platform team operating independently and confidently in cloud with reduced external reliance
- Faster platform response times, more reliable deployments, and measurable reduction in developer-reported infrastructure friction
**Required Qualifications:**
- 10+ years in developer, DevOps, SRE, or cloud engineering roles
- 5+ years of cloud platform experience, with on-premises-to-cloud migration experience strongly preferred
- Deep expertise in Kubernetes, GCP (or equivalent cloud platform), and production infrastructure design
- Proven track record architecting and operating systems at scale with high availability requirements
- Strong mentoring and communication skills to standardize practices across teams
