Relativity Space is building the Terran R rocket to deliver payloads to orbit using advanced 3D printing manufacturing. The Avionics team owns the full lifecycle of the rocket's electrical control systems—from design through flight qualification and production. In this role, you will own the design, routing, and integration of electrical wire harnessing within Terran R's avionics system. This includes connectors, cables, and mechanical supports from conception through qualification and production. You'll collaborate across disciplines—structures, electrical hardware, propulsion, and software—to optimize system-level avionics architecture through trades and requirements definition. Key responsibilities include: - Design and route electrical harnesses using 3D modeling, 2D drafting, and electrical design packages - Deliver detailed designs with production and test considerations - Validate designs for flight through rapid prototyping and test campaigns - Support vehicle-level integration by defining avionics systems integration operations, checkouts, and test plans - Work closely with propulsion, GNC, fluids, and stage engineering teams You'll have high ownership of components that will actually fly, with the opportunity to shape Terran R's fundamental avionics architecture at a critical moment in the program's development. Required: Bachelor's in Mechanical, Electrical, or Aerospace Engineering (or related field); 5+ years in full lifecycle design engineering; experience with electrical harness design and mechanical routing in 3D CAD; experience integrating and testing complex multi-disciplinary electrical systems. Nice-to-haves: NX CAD and Teamcenter; Zuken E3 electrical design software; Python/LabView/C++ scripting for hardware bring-up; electrical and mechanical test fixture development; hardware-in-the-loop (HIL/HITL) test systems.
