Archer Technologies is an aerospace company building all-electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft for sustainable air mobility. As a Senior Automation Controls Engineer, you will architect and design manufacturing automation systems at scale, moving beyond maintenance of existing lines to building intelligent systems from the ground up. You will lead the full controls system lifecycle, including PLC programming, HMI development, robotics integration, and servo drive configuration. Key responsibilities include collaborating with cross-functional teams on innovative machine and process concepts, drafting electrical schematics, and overseeing procurement and fabrication of electrical control panels. Specific duties encompass developing high-volume production systems from feasibility studies through scalable manufacturing, establishing Equipment Development Standards and templates for factory-wide standardization, and partnering with external system integrators. You will provide design feedback on electrical, controls, and safety aspects, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and Archer standards. Additional responsibilities include supporting installation and commissioning of new equipment, developing and validating MES interfaces, building HMIs using Ignition and V8 systems, troubleshooting electrical systems and safety circuits, and creating comprehensive handoff packages for production teams. You will drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on quality, throughput, and cost reduction, while specifying and selecting controls hardware for prototype and internally developed equipment.
