Honeydew Health is building a digital-first dermatology platform to provide access to skin treatments globally. As the first in-house Senior Accountant, you will transition accounting operations from an outsourced provider to an in-house function, establishing trusted financial processes and enabling leadership to make decisions with current, accurate data.
In your first six months, you will own the full transition of accounting operations, including the general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, reconciliations, and the monthly close process. You'll establish clean, reconciled books with no unresolved items older than 30 days, document key balance sheet accounts (cash, AP, AR, revenue), and create standard operating procedures for the 3–5 highest-priority accounting processes. The goal is to close the books by day 5 each month, compared to the current day 15 timeline.
Your core responsibilities include:
- Recording and reviewing journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations (including payroll and revenue)
- Maintaining the general ledger and accounts payable, managing Brex, and investigating discrepancies
- Directing how AI and automation tools are integrated into accounting workflows, with human verification of all outputs
- Writing and maintaining SOPs and policies to build scalable processes as the company grows
- Ensuring supporting documentation and internal controls are defensible and audit-ready
You'll work in a fast-growing healthtech company with a mission to eliminate access barriers to dermatological care. The role emphasizes both speed and accuracy, with an expectation that you'll flag blockers early, propose solutions, and leave processes cleaner than you found them.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Hands-on ownership of full close cycles (month-end and year-end): you must have personally run journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations end-to-end, not just supported them. Be prepared to walk through a specific close, reconciliation issues you caught, and timelines you hit.
- GAAP revenue recognition experience, including recurring/subscription revenue: you must have applied these rules in practice and be able to describe a judgment call you made.
- Experience integrating AI/automation tools into accounting workflows: name a specific tool you set up, what it changed, and an error you caught in its output.
- Advanced Excel proficiency.
Nice-to-haves: systems automation experience, QuickBooks or similar accounting software, data modeling, SQL, Databricks, or similar tools.
