Varda Space Industries is building commercial space infrastructure, including in-orbit pharmaceutical processing vehicles, reentry capsules, heat shields, and satellite buses. The company is accelerating the orbital economy by creating both products and infrastructure for space-based manufacturing.
As a Spacecraft Process Engineer focused on Manufacturability, you will partner with design engineering and manufacturing teams to create test, manufacturability, and inspection plans for all vehicle hardware. You will work to right-size processes and controls to enable scaling production of spacecraft hardware while ensuring production processes yield verified, reliable hardware at rate.
Key responsibilities include:
- Partnering with design engineering and manufacturing teams to develop comprehensive test, manufacturability, and inspection plans for vehicle hardware
- Containing suspect or non-conforming product and providing guidance to quality inspectors, technicians, shop supervisors, and engineers
- Leading failure investigations in production, test, and operation to identify root causes and mitigate risks, improving design and process reliability
- Providing critical peer review of hardware during design reviews and acceptance/qualification test campaigns
- Supporting Quality, Flight Reliability, and Mission Assurance functions as needed
The ideal candidate is a responsible, collaborative, process-oriented engineer with hands-on experience in hardware design, testing, manufacturing, and troubleshooting. You will work in Varda's El Segundo production facility where vehicles, equipment, and materials are built, integrated, and tested. Varda was founded in 2021 by veterans from SpaceX, Blue Origin, and major pharmaceutical companies, backed by top-tier investors including Khosla Ventures, Lux Capital, and Founders Fund.
