Salary: USD 110,500 - 172,000 / annual
AstroForge is seeking a Spacecraft Integration and Test Engineer to join their growing team in Seal Beach, CA. The company's mission is to make space resources accessible on Earth through asteroid mining, extracting valuable minerals in space with lower cost and carbon footprint than terrestrial mining methods.
In this role, you will be responsible for integrating spacecraft subsystems into flight-ready vehicles and verifying performance through rigorous testing to ensure missions launch on schedule and operate reliably in space.
Key responsibilities include:
- Lead and support mechanical, electrical, and system integration of spacecraft subsystems (structures, avionics, propulsion, power, payloads)
- Develop, execute, and document integration and test procedures for component, subsystem, and system-level testing
- Perform functional, environmental, and performance testing including thermal vacuum, vibration, EMI/EMC, and acoustic testing
- Coordinate with systems engineering, avionics, and software teams to troubleshoot anomalies during integration and test campaigns
- Build and maintain ground support equipment (GSE) and test fixtures
- Track and report test results, non-conformances, and corrective actions through verification and validation processes
- Support pre-launch operations including final spacecraft checkout, fueling, and launch vehicle integration
- Maintain detailed records and documentation for full traceability of test data and configuration changes
- Continuously improve integration and test processes, tooling, and procedures
Required qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field
- Experience integrating and testing complex systems in aerospace, aviation, automotive, or related fields
- Familiarity with spacecraft subsystems (avionics, power, propulsion, ADCS, communications)
- Experience with environmental testing (thermal vacuum, vibration, shock) and associated equipment
- Working knowledge of electrical test equipment (multimeters, oscilloscopes, power supplies) and basic wiring/harness practices
- Ability to read schematics, mechanical drawings, and interface control documents
- Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and hands-on experience with flight hardware
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in fast-paced environments
- Willingness to work flexible hours during critical test and launch campaigns
- U.S. citizenship or lawful permanent resident status (ITAR requirement)
Compensation includes salary (Level 2: $110,500–$138,650; Level 3: $135,500–$172,000), equity, 100% paid medical/dental/life insurance, vision and FSA benefits, 3 weeks PTO plus 1 week sick time, 10 paid holidays, and 401(k) with company match.
