Salary: USD 131,000 - 184,000 / annual

Varda Space Industries is building commercial space infrastructure, including in-orbit pharmaceutical processing systems, reentry capsules, and satellite buses. The Flight Software team is responsible for all phases of spacecraft software development—from requirements capture through flight operations—ensuring reliable behavior in orbit. In this role, you will develop embedded Linux and real-time software for spacecraft, satellite buses, and reentry capsules. You'll write quality, structured code in C++ for bare metal, RTOS, and Linux-based embedded processors. Responsibilities include owning all aspects of software development (design, testing, integration), scoping projects with open-ended requirements, and ensuring system quality through comprehensive verification and validation. You'll collaborate with a team of aerospace veterans from SpaceX, Blue Origin, and major pharmaceutical companies. Required: Bachelor's degree in computer science, math, physics, or engineering (or equivalent safety-critical software experience); 3+ years developing spacecraft or safety-critical software; strong C++ proficiency. Preferred: end-to-end spacecraft build/launch experience, real-time embedded systems development, aerospace safety-critical software background, CCSDS telemetry/telecommand, F' or cFS frameworks, Python or Rust, analog/digital electronics knowledge, and familiarity with SPI, I2C, CAN, or EtherCAT protocols. Varda is headquartered in El Segundo with additional offices in Washington, DC and Huntsville, AL. This is an on-site role in El Segundo.
