Varda Space Industries is building commercial space infrastructure, including in-orbit pharmaceutical processing systems, reentry capsules, and satellite buses. The company designs, manufactures, and operates its W-Series vehicles entirely in-house, with leadership from SpaceX, Blue Origin, and major pharmaceutical companies.
As a Firmware Engineer on the Flight Software team, you will develop and maintain reliable firmware that controls how Varda's spacecraft, satellite bus, and reentry capsule operate throughout their entire mission lifecycle. You will own all aspects of software development from initial design through testing and integration, working on bare metal, RTOS, and Linux-based systems in C++.
Key responsibilities include:
- Developing reliable firmware for spacecraft and reentry capsule control systems
- Owning the complete software development lifecycle: design, testing, and integration
- Scoping projects, capturing requirements, and conducting design trades for open-ended problems
- Writing high-quality structured C++ code for embedded processors
- Building highly reliable and available software systems
- Ensuring system quality and performance through comprehensive software testing, verification, and validation (V&V) techniques
You will work with a team responsible for all phases of development from requirements capture through flight operational support. This is a safety-critical role where your code directly impacts mission success and spacecraft reliability in orbit.
