Varda Space Industries is building commercial space infrastructure, including in-orbit pharmaceutical processing systems, reentry capsules, and satellite buses. The Flight Software team is responsible for all phases of spacecraft software development—from requirements capture through testing and operational support—ensuring reliable behavior in orbit.
In this role, you will develop embedded flight software for spacecraft, satellite buses, and reentry capsules. You'll write quality, structured bare-metal, RTOS, or Linux-based software in C++ for embedded processors. Your responsibilities span the full software development lifecycle: design, testing, integration, and verification & validation (V&V). You'll own projects end-to-end, including scoping, requirements capture, and initial design trades for open-ended problems. You'll collaborate with a team of experienced engineers (many from SpaceX, Blue Origin, and major aerospace firms) to ensure system quality and performance.
The role requires a Bachelor's degree in computer science, math, physics, engineering, or equivalent technical experience in safety-critical software, plus 3+ years developing spacecraft or similar safety-critical systems. Strong C++ expertise is essential. Preferred qualifications include end-to-end spacecraft build/launch experience, real-time embedded systems development, aerospace safety-critical software experience, familiarity with CCSDS telemetry/telecommand, F' or cFS frameworks, Python or Rust, analog/digital electronics knowledge, and experience with SPI, I2C, CAN, or EtherCAT protocols.
