AuthZed is a Series A company building SpiceDB and authorization infrastructure that helps engineering teams manage access control at enterprise scale. The company is fully remote with employees across the US, Canada, and Europe.
As a Solutions Engineer, you will drive the technical aspects of customer deals by demonstrating how AuthZed meets prospect requirements and providing deep technical expertise throughout the sales cycle. You'll work closely with Account Executives to understand customer technical needs, design permission schemas, build proof-of-concepts, and lead technical demonstrations.
Key responsibilities include:
- Qualifying and closing opportunities by establishing the technical fit of AuthZed's solutions
- Collaborating with sales to document customer requirements, performance SLOs, consistency needs, and architecture
- Designing tailored solutions and proof-of-concepts to validate approaches with prospects
- Conducting virtual and in-person technical demos and deep-dive sessions
- Identifying product gaps and communicating feedback to the product team
- Creating and maintaining customer demos and troubleshooting technical issues
You'll work in a culture emphasizing agency, collaboration, and open-mindedness. The role involves approximately 3-4 days per month of travel, mostly to customer sites or internal team offsites.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Minimum 3 years in a solutions engineering role or similar technical customer-facing position
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or related field (directly related work experience considered as alternative)
- Working proficiency in a modern backend language (Go, Python, Java, or Node preferred)
- Hands-on experience with relational databases (e.g., Postgres)
- Proficiency designing and deploying solutions in cloud environments (AWS, GCP, Azure) and managing Kubernetes clusters
- Experience integrating against APIs, including handling streams and pagination
- Strong diagnostic and problem-solving abilities for complex technical issues
- Ability to communicate technical and business requirements to diverse audiences
- Proven track record conducting training sessions, demos, and presentations to stakeholders at various technical levels
- Comfort with ambiguous, changing requirements and rapid learning of new technical concepts
PLUS (nice-to-have):
- Open-source software contribution experience
- Experience building and maintaining authorization systems
- gRPC API integration experience
- Graph database experience
- Understanding of distributed systems concepts (CDC, message queues, 2PC, workflow engines like Temporal)
- Experience building AI agents or RAG systems
- CRM system experience
