Salary: USD 150,000 - 225,000 / annual
Skydio is seeking an experienced Solutions Engineer to serve as the technical arm of our state and local government go-to-market strategy. You will work directly with public safety agencies across your territory to understand their operational needs and develop tailored autonomous drone solutions. This role bridges the gap between customer agencies and Skydio's product organization, turning operational problems into program designs and proving capability in the field.
Key responsibilities include:
- Collaborating with public safety agencies to understand needs and develop drone solutions as a trusted technical expert
- Conducting product demonstrations and ensuring smooth integration with customer systems (CAD, dispatch, video management, evidence management, streaming platforms)
- Owning site assessment quality in your territory, verifying dock locations before deployment
- Running structured proofs of concept tied to active opportunities with measurable operational value
- Supporting airspace authorization pathways (BVLOS approvals, waivers, COAs, remote and docked operations)
- Gathering and analyzing customer feedback to inform product improvements
- Working cross-functionally with Key Account Leaders, Engineering, and Product teams
You will be measured on technical win rate, trial and proof-of-concept outcomes, program expansion, site assessment quality, and requirements pushed into the product organization. This is a remote position with 50-75% travel required for customer engagements, field activities, deployments, team onsites, and company events.

Requirements:
- Active FAA Part 107 Certificate
- Strong understanding of drone technology, Public Safety sUAS operations, and regulatory compliance
- Familiarity with Drone as First Responder concepts of operation and dock-based remote operations (professional experience strongly preferred)
- Working knowledge of public safety software platforms including CAD and VMS, and API integrations
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to think critically in high-pressure situations
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
- Comfort operating inside a Sales organization with judgment about committing technical time
- Ability to travel 50-75% of the time
- Ability to lift up to 60 lbs unaided
Nice to have:
- Prior public safety service as a sworn officer, firefighter, or agency UAS program lead
- Experience standing up a Drone as First Responder program from waiver through go-live
- Familiarity with grant funding pathways and cooperative purchasing vehicles for state/local agencies
- Working knowledge of Salesforce, Palantir, Databricks, or equivalents
