Astronomer is seeking a Solutions Engineer - Data Engineering to join its Global Services Delivery Team in Hyderabad. You will work with enterprise and startup customers to implement Apache Airflow and Astronomer's managed DataOps platform, helping organizations architect and optimize data pipelines at scale.
In this role, you will become a trusted technical advisor to customers across their data journey. You'll maintain deep expertise in Apache Airflow and Astronomer products, staying current with releases and features that drive customer impact. Key responsibilities include educating customers on Airflow best practices, performing code refactoring assessments, architecting scalable data engineering frameworks, and optimizing customer workflows for performance.
You'll work directly with customers to ensure successful post-sales implementation, acting as a liaison between customer needs and product improvements. You'll also engage with the Apache Airflow open-source community, leveraging AI-assisted development practices to accelerate solution delivery while maintaining quality and security standards.
The role requires 3-5 years of data engineering experience, ideally with Apache Airflow in production. You should be proficient in Python, DAG creation, and building custom Airflow operators and hooks. Experience with modern data stack tools (Databricks, Snowflake, DBT, AWS, Azure, GCP) and ETL/ELT pipeline implementation is essential. Strong communication skills, customer empathy, and data-driven thinking are critical. Bonus experience includes production ETL/ELT implementations, CI/CD pipeline management, and infrastructure tools like Docker and Kubernetes.
This is a hybrid role requiring at least 3 days per week in the Hyderabad office, offering a flexible work model with digital and physical connectivity.
