Astronomer is seeking a Solutions Engineer - Data Engineering to join its Global Services Delivery Team. You will work with enterprise customers ranging from startups to Fortune 500 companies to implement Apache Airflow and Astronomer's managed DataOps platform following industry best practices.
In this role, you will become a trusted expert in Apache Airflow and the Astronomer platform, serving as a technical advisor to customers implementing data orchestration solutions. You'll design and architect data pipelines across diverse environments, perform code refactoring assessments, and help customers optimize their Airflow configurations for performance.
Key responsibilities include maintaining deep technical expertise in Airflow and Astronomer products, educating customers on best practices, collaborating with internal teams to design engineering solutions, collecting customer feedback for product improvements, and reviewing/optimizing customer data workflows and system configurations.
You'll work in a hybrid model, spending at least 3 days per week at the Hyderabad office while maintaining flexibility. You'll also have opportunities to engage with the Apache Airflow open-source community.
Required qualifications: 3-5 years of data engineering experience, ideally with Apache Airflow in production; proficiency in Python, DAG creation, and building custom Airflow operators/hooks; hands-on experience with ETL/ELT pipelines and data transformation; familiarity with modern data stack tools (Cloudera, Databricks, Snowflake, DBT, AWS, Azure, GCP); strong communication skills for customer-facing interactions; and a data-driven, team-oriented mindset.
Bonus experience includes production Modern Data Stack implementations, CI/CD pipeline development, long-term customer engagement work, and infrastructure tools like Docker and Kubernetes.
