Astronomer is seeking a Solutions Engineer for Cloud Infrastructure to join its Global Services Delivery Team in Hyderabad. In this role, you will partner with Astronomer's most strategic private-cloud customers to help them adopt and maximize value from Astro, the unified DataOps platform powered by Apache Airflow.
You will own a small portfolio of assigned accounts, focusing on ensuring that large, strategic customers extract maximum value from their Astronomer investment. Key responsibilities include supporting Astro Private Cloud Airflow installations in on-premise customer environments, setting up and measuring monitoring and alerting metrics for optimal performance and high availability, and independently troubleshooting infrastructure issues related to Kubernetes-based private-cloud offerings—including Kubernetes, networking, database connectivity, and critical services.
You will drive major incidents, perform root cause analysis and change impact analysis, identify and develop automation scripts for environment monitoring and health checks, and provide technical guidance to the team on complex infrastructure challenges. You'll maintain and continuously improve your technical expertise in Airflow and Astronomer products, staying current with releases and features that impact customers. Additionally, you'll act as a liaison, collecting customer feedback and relaying improvement recommendations to the Product team.
Required qualifications include 2+ years of hands-on Kubernetes experience, 3-5 years of industry experience, strong understanding of microservices and service-oriented architecture, and deep knowledge of Linux/Unix operating systems. You must have strong networking troubleshooting skills, advanced experience with at least one major cloud platform (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud), and demonstrated comfort interacting with customers across multiple mediums including Slack, email, and pair programming sessions. Strong communication skills, empathy, and a data-driven mindset are essential.
Bonus experience includes production-level Apache Airflow work, CI/CD pipeline development, short and long-term customer engagement, familiarity with related products (Cloudera, Databricks, Snowflake, DBT, ETL technologies), and Python/Shell scripting proficiency.
