Nearmap is seeking a Solutions Engineer to join its Government sales vertical. You will serve as the technical lead on account teams, responsible for technical discovery, solution design, and pre-sales support for moderate to complex sales opportunities targeting mid-size local government organizations.
In this role, you will demonstrate how Nearmap's 2D, 3D, and AI-powered geospatial content can integrate into customers' existing systems to transform their operations. You'll conduct deep-dive technical demos, lead discovery conversations, and provide tailored solutions that address longstanding industry challenges in GIS and asset management.
Key responsibilities include:
- Partnering with Sales, Customer Success, and Product teams to support qualified opportunities
- Acting as a liaison between field teams and internal Product/Engineering groups, channeling customer feedback and shaping feature development
- Working directly with government prospects to understand business constraints and recommend solutions
- Assessing content delivery requirements and advising on optimal delivery methods (offline, custom applications, cloud platforms)
- Building custom, scenario-based demos tailored to customer tech stacks and use cases
- Creating technical demonstrations and documentation that articulate solution benefits
- Leading onboarding and integration guidance for custom solutions
- Representing Nearmap at conferences, speaking events, and webinars
You'll work across multiple internal teams (Sales, Customer Success, Product, Marketing, Technology, Survey Operations) and external partners, serving as a bridge between technical capabilities and customer needs.
Requirements:
- 2+ years in a GIS-centric role, preferably with or for local government
- 2+ years in a technical sales or sales engineering role (preferred)
- Advanced experience using geospatial content and performing analysis in desktop and web-based GIS applications, particularly ArcGIS suite (required)
- Familiarity with public safety E911 CAD systems such as Motorola VESTA or PremierOne (highly desired)
- Experience writing or responding to RFPs/RFIs for government contracts (preferred)
- Proven ability to build compelling user stories from geospatial data stacks
- Bachelor's degree in geography, GIS, or a STEM field (minimum)
- Excellent communication skills across all levels of technical fluency
- Strong time management and organizational skills
