Axle Energy is building software infrastructure for the decarbonized energy system, controlling hundreds of thousands of distributed energy assets including vehicle charging, heating systems, and home batteries. The company moves gigawatt-hours of electrons in real-world markets while operating at startup speed, backed by leading investors including Energize Capital and Accel. As a Solutions Engineer, you will be a generalist engineer bridging software development, customer implementation, and solution design. Your core responsibilities include building and maintaining integrations with customer systems, distributed energy devices, and third-party platforms; forming deep technical understanding of the domain, platform, and customer challenges; working closely with customers to troubleshoot issues, support implementations, and design scalable solutions; and collaborating with the Product team to translate customer feedback into product improvements. You will spend significant time with customers understanding their technical requirements, solving complex technical challenges, and shaping product direction based on real-world feedback. The role emphasizes ownership—you will manage your own time, adapt to changing scope and deadlines, and focus on delivering outcomes rather than following process. The company operates in a deliberately flat structure with fewer layers and faster decision-making. The tech stack includes Python and React for frontend development, Docker for deployment reproducibility, GCP for cloud infrastructure, and aggressive use of AI tools (Claude Code). You will work in a dog-friendly office near Farringdon with a hybrid model requiring 2-3 days per week in-office to maximize collaboration. The company offers meaningful equity alongside competitive salary, enhanced parental leave, bi-annual team retreats, and the opportunity to directly shape the future of energy markets and accelerate the low-carbon transition.
