Restate is seeking its first Solutions Architect to work directly with customers and internal teams to bring durable execution infrastructure into production. You'll be a highly technical role focused on helping engineering teams evaluate, design, and deploy Restate's durable runtime platform—which is becoming foundational infrastructure for AI and distributed systems.
You'll spend your time in architecture discussions, technical evaluations, prototypes, code reviews, and production troubleshooting. Key responsibilities include:
- Design production architectures with engineering teams, helping them understand where durable execution fits into their systems
- Solve complex problems around state management, messaging, orchestration, and failure handling
- Build prototypes, integrations, and reference implementations to demonstrate Restate's capabilities
- Guide teams from initial evaluation through production deployment and operation
- Troubleshoot distributed systems and infrastructure issues at scale
- Bring technical feedback and customer insights back to Restate's product and engineering teams
- Turn recurring customer challenges into reusable tooling, documentation, and best practices
- Contribute to technical demos, conference talks, and developer content to evangelize the platform

The role requires travel approximately one to two weeks per quarter.
REQUIREMENTS:
Must have:
- Strong software engineering or solutions architecture background
- Experience with distributed, backend, or event-driven systems
- Strong understanding of system architecture and reliability
- Experience with a backend language such as Go, Java, Python, TypeScript, Rust, or C++
- Experience with cloud infrastructure and/or Kubernetes
- Ability to dive into code and troubleshoot technical issues
Nice to have:
- Experience with distributed databases, messaging systems, workflow engines, or infrastructure software
- Kubernetes, networking, observability, or cloud architecture expertise
- AI infrastructure or production AI applications experience
- Rust or other systems programming experience
- Open-source or technical evangelism background
