Efficient Computer is building next-generation energy-efficient processors around the Fabric architecture, a novel spatial dataflow design. The company has shipped its first processor (Electron E1) in volume and recently announced $97M in Series B financing. You will own the quarterly software release cycle for Efficient's software stack—the effcc compiler, system software (optimization libraries like eff-dsp and runtime), and SDK. You are the operational center of the software program: you build and defend the release plan, drive the critical path, hold the quality bar, and facilitate tradeoff conversations before slips occur. Key responsibilities: **Own the Release**: Execute quarterly software releases from planning through ship. You own the schedule, critical path, and delivery timeline. Work with product managers, team leads, and engineering managers to build the release plan, including feature commitments, freeze dates, qualification windows, and ship criteria. Drive weekly execution cadence (release reviews, bug triage, go/no-go decisions) and maintain a single source of truth for status, dependencies, and decisions. **Drive Cross-Functional Execution**: Coordinate handoffs across compiler, system software, and embedded teams, plus architecture, product, and hardware teams. Keep Product Management informed about execution and surface risks that could affect schedule, quality, or feature-set. Manage dependency chains: compiler features that libraries depend on, SDK/runtime interfaces, LLVM and toolchain versions, board and silicon availability. **Maintain Release Quality**: Establish release quality gates with teams (e.g., no regressions in cycles, energy, or code size on benchmark suites; test coverage thresholds). Run the release checklist (gates, documentation, release notes) and hold owners to closure criteria. Track escaped defects and feed learnings back into the checklist. **Manage Risk, Decisions, and Reporting**: Surface risk early with mitigation options and quantified schedule impact. Facilitate scope, schedule, and quality tradeoffs; document decisions, owners, and rationale. Deliver executive reporting on release status, risks, and decisions needed. You will work daily with compiler, system software, embedded, and product teams, and regularly interface with architecture and hardware teams during silicon bring-up. **Requirements**: - B.S. in Electrical/Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent (M.S. or MBA a plus) - 7+ years in software engineering or program management, including prior hands-on engineering experience in compilers, systems software, or embedded software - Working fluency in using AI tools to facilitate program management (reporting, issue tracking, dependency analysis) - Strong experience with software delivery flow: compiler toolchains, embedded SDKs, CI/CD, test coverage, performance benchmarking, release engineering - Demonstrated ability to build and defend bottoms-up schedules with critical path analysis and dependency mapping - Track record influencing without authority: earning technical credibility to push senior engineers on commitments and dates - Strong written and verbal communication; able to run rooms of principal engineers and executive reviews with equal effectiveness - Hands-on with program tooling: Github, Linear, Jira, Notion, Confluence, CI systems **Desired Qualifications**: - Experience as technical program manager on first-generation silicon product where toolchain and hardware matured together - Familiarity with LLVM, MLIR, machine learning compilers, or language runtimes - Knowledge of dataflow, spatial, or other novel compute architectures - Experience managing pre-silicon software enablement against emulation or FPGA prototyping programs
