Lab37 Robotics is building robotic systems for direct-to-customer food production. As a Senior Software Quality Engineer, you will own test strategy, release validation, automation, and early issue triage across complex software and operational workflows spanning frontend applications, backend services, cloud infrastructure, integrations, and robot-adjacent interfaces.
You will create and execute comprehensive test strategies for product capabilities, develop detailed test plans based on requirements and potential failure modes, and own release checkout including readiness criteria and go/no-go decisions. You'll build and maintain automated tests for APIs, backend services, web applications, integrations, and end-to-end operational workflows.
Key responsibilities include partnering with product, culinary, and operations teams to understand real-world workflows and identify risks; testing software for kitchen operations (order intake, menus, recipes, tasks, alerts); validating integrations with delivery and commerce platforms; testing operator-facing and robot-adjacent interfaces; and working alongside firmware and robotics engineers to validate system behavior across software and hardware boundaries.
You will improve system testability by contributing to simulation environments, mocked services, test data, and diagnostic tooling. You'll perform exploratory, functional, integration, regression, system, and end-to-end testing, own quality activities through rollout and production support, and participate in on-call rotations for early issue investigation and triage. You'll also participate in design reviews, release reviews, and incident reviews to identify quality risks and improve reliability.
Required: 7+ years of software quality or test engineering experience with ownership of complex test strategies across multiple components; deep experience creating and executing test plans for production software; strong test automation skills using one or more programming languages; experience testing APIs, backend services, web applications, databases, integrations, and event-driven workflows; experience owning or coordinating release validation and production-readiness activities; strong debugging and investigation skills; experience with CI/CD systems; strong judgment about automation leverage; and deep experience improving software quality, reliability, and testability.
