Anduril Industries is seeking a Software Lead for Mission Systems to join the Maritime team in Quincy/Boston, MA. This role leads the development of autonomous decision-making and autonomy software for Anduril's next-generation Autonomous Underwater Vehicles (AUVs), specifically the Copperhead platform—ultra-long-range, full-ocean-depth systems used for seabed exploration and Robot-as-a-Service operations. You will manage a small team of 3-4 engineers while providing hands-on technical leadership across the full software lifecycle. Responsibilities include: architecting and implementing core mission systems logic that enables environmental understanding, safe navigation, obstacle/threat response, and complex mission execution; establishing and executing a long-term software roadmap; designing development processes for payload and mission system delivery; acting as technical owner for the entire mission system including stakeholder/customer engagement, requirements definition, and sustainment; organizing integration events and managing cross-functional coordination; owning customer success through operational delivery; writing and maintaining core libraries (frame transformations, targeting, guidance, communications) used across Anduril robotics platforms; leading major feature development and fleet rollout; and traveling up to 15% to build, test, and deploy capabilities in real-world environments. Required: strong engineering background (robotics, computer science, software engineering, mechatronics, electrical engineering, mathematics, or physics); system architecture experience; hands-on embedded/physical device software development; proficiency in data structures, algorithms, concurrency, and optimization; 6+ years professional C++ or Rust programming in Linux environments; NixOS experience; troubleshooting and analysis of remotely deployed systems; distributed software platform and application architecture development; holistic capability across the software stack from design through sustainment; demonstrated curiosity and ability to learn across disciplines.
