Tycho.AI, spun out of MIT and backed by DoD contracts, is building autonomous intelligence solutions for unmanned systems in GPS-denied and contested environments. This role bridges software development and flight operations, owning the integration pipeline from code changes through simulation, hardware-in-the-loop testing, and live flight validation.
You will own the complete path a software change takes from pull request to flight line. Responsibilities include deploying feature branches to vehicles, operating and maintaining SIL/HIL simulator systems for autonomy, perception, and flight control stacks, and developing automated regression tests integrated into CI/CD pipelines. You will plan and execute flight test campaigns—writing test cards, managing safety checklists, operating ground stations, and analyzing flight data. When issues arise in the field, you'll reproduce them in the lab, triage failures, and file detailed bug reports with logs, telemetry, and reproduction steps. You'll also build tooling for log ingestion, flight data review, and test reporting to maintain traceability between software builds and flight results.
Required qualifications include a Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Computer Science, Aerospace, Electrical Engineering, or related field. You need hands-on experience integrating and testing software on complex hardware systems such as UAS, robotics, or automotive platforms. Strong scripting and automation skills are essential, with the ability to read, build, and debug C/C++. Experience with test log analysis and data pipelines (MCAP, rosbag, PX4 Flight Review) is required. You must be comfortable with Linux, Git, and CI systems like GitHub Actions or Jenkins, and have hands-on experience with simulation and hardware-in-the-loop environments. Willingness to work in the field—traveling to test sites, early mornings, variable weather, and hands-on vehicle operations—is mandatory.
Nice-to-have skills include experience with PX4, ArduPilot, MAVLink, ROS2, and ground control stations; prior UAS flight test or range operations experience; Part 107 certification; and familiarity with GPS-denied navigation, VIO/SLAM, or sensor fusion systems and their failure modes.
