Salesforce is seeking a Senior Software Engineer (MTS level) to architect and build a new internal cloud platform for network security controls and management. The role focuses on designing highly-available, performant distributed systems that provide security at the network layer across Salesforce's public cloud infrastructure, including microsegmentation, network policy distribution, access control, distributed firewalls, and DDoS prevention across VMs and containers. Key responsibilities include architecting and implementing distributed systems for network-level security controls; developing microservices to support network security platforms at cloud infrastructure and distributed platform levels; researching and implementing networking security solutions for intra and cross-region network flows; operating security platforms in a full DevOps model (build it, run it); elevating engineering excellence through code reviews and mentorship; and building production-grade software using modern engineering practices with AI as a core development tool. The role emphasizes an AI-first engineering approach—using AI tools like Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, and Cursor to move faster, build fluency across the stack, and contribute beyond core specialty. You'll critically evaluate code (human or AI-generated) for correctness, quality, security, and performance, and design systems where AI agents integrate seamlessly into human workflows. Required qualifications: 2+ years in SaaS/PaaS/IaaS software development; 2+ years in high-availability 24/7 environments (cloud platforms preferred); demonstrated AI-first engineering approach with experience using AI tools in development workflows; advanced prompt engineering skills; proficiency in Go, Java, C++, or Python; and a related technical degree. Preferred qualifications include experience with network security platforms (segmentation, ACLs, DDoS), cloud network architecture (VPCs, security groups, transit gateways), cloud security services (AWS Shield, WAF, Azure Firewall, GCP Cloud Armor), container networking and service mesh (Cilium, Calico), strong networking protocol fundamentals, auth frameworks (SSO, SAML, OAuth), and DevOps orientation.
