Anthropic is hiring a Software Engineering Manager to lead the Network Security team, which is responsible for securing the company's networks across cloud providers and bare-metal AI data centers. The team owns egress and ingress controls, network segmentation, private connectivity between environments, and encryption in transit. They design, build, and maintain these controls while writing software to deploy, enforce, and monitor them.
In this role, you will set the team's charter, practices, and priorities as Anthropic rapidly expands data center sites and cloud regions. You'll partner with infrastructure networking, cluster, and data center teams to ensure security is built into network designs from the start, enabling research and product teams to use compute in any environment without friction.
Key responsibilities include owning the network security roadmap (threat modeling from management plane through Kubernetes and cloud interconnects), designing and shipping secure-by-default primitives for ingress/egress controls and segmentation, building visibility into traffic and boundary drift with automated remediation, and owning the evidence for security goals and compliance. You'll hire, grow, and retain senior security software engineers, own their career development, and establish team practices as the organization scales.
Minimum qualifications: 8+ years of front-line management experience, proven ability to build and manage diverse teams including senior and staff engineers, experience owning security or infrastructure domains end-to-end with multi-year strategy, hands-on network security engineering in cloud and on-prem environments (VPC design, interconnects, private service connectivity, cloud firewall policy, egress control), threat modeling expertise, and Kubernetes networking security at scale. Preferred: experience building or rebuilding hiring loops, exposure to large-scale distributed training, end-to-end networking problem-solving with internal users and vendors, infrastructure zero-to-one experience, pragmatic communication skills, and familiarity with AI security concepts.
