Thunes is seeking an Engineering Lead to manage the core engineering team in Singapore responsible for building and maintaining mission-critical payout APIs and services that power their global payments ecosystem. This role combines technical leadership with people management, requiring you to architect and scale high-throughput, low-latency RESTful APIs and microservices while mentoring a team of high-performing engineers.
You will take end-to-end ownership of the core payout platform, ensuring SLA compliance, security, high availability, and 24/7 reliability. Key responsibilities include designing scalable backend systems, driving engineering excellence through clean code standards and automated testing, leading team growth and continuous learning, and championing Agile practices for predictable delivery. You'll collaborate with the Chief Architect, product management, and cross-functional teams globally to translate business requirements into technical roadmaps.
The tech stack includes Golang (primary), Perl (Mojolicious), Python, Vue.js, PostgreSQL, AWS, Kubernetes (EKS), Docker, and modern CI/CD practices. You'll work in a DevOps culture where teams own their code end-to-end, deploying multiple times daily with zero-downtime deployments.
Required qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field (or equivalent experience); proven leadership mentoring engineering teams in fast-paced environments; strong hands-on Golang proficiency; deep understanding of relational databases and PostgreSQL; demonstrable track record designing high-volume REST/JSON APIs; solid AWS and Kubernetes familiarity; willingness to work with legacy codebases like Perl. Nice-to-have: Fintech/payments industry experience; modern frontend framework familiarity (Vue.js, JavaScript/TypeScript).
