ICEYE is seeking a Software Engineer to develop and maintain custom software for the HAPS (High Altitude Platform System) program, focusing on stratospheric electric aircraft. You will work across the full stack from embedded avionics and command & control systems to simulation environments and ground-based tooling.
Key responsibilities include designing and implementing software solutions for a novel UAV system, integrating commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) and custom-designed avionics components into a working platform, developing command & control segments, and building or improving hardware-in-the-loop (HITL) and software-in-the-loop (SITL) simulation systems. You will discover and understand airworthiness requirements, translate operational needs into software solutions, develop verification procedures, and participate directly in flight test campaigns—analyzing in-flight data to drive continuous improvements.
Required qualifications: 5+ years of relevant work experience, strong programming skills in C, C++, and Python, knowledge of communication protocols (CAN, Ethernet, SPI, I2C, UART), expertise in embedded software development and embedded communication protocols, and hands-on experience with product deployment and debugging.
Desirable qualifications include a degree in Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or Robotics; experience with high-reliability electronics design for harsh environments; familiarity with industry standards for electronics design and testing; simulation development skills (SPICE, MATLAB/Simulink); experience with networked smart systems and cloud-linked telemetry; and a passion for solving complex problems in aerospace.
ICEYE is a global scale-up delivering space-based intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) capabilities to governments and allied nations using synthetic aperture radar (SAR) satellite technology. The company operates internationally with over 900 employees across offices in Finland, Poland, Spain, Japan, UAE, Greece, Germany, and the US. You'll join a diverse team united by ambition, with opportunities for real ownership, continuous professional development, and a collaborative culture.
