Alkira, a Lumen company, is transforming enterprise networking through its Network Infrastructure as-a-Service platform. The platform delivers a simple, on-demand, fully managed network solution that connects users, sites, and clouds with integrated security and operational visibility.
The Frontend Engineering team is seeking a Software Engineer - UI Developer to join in the San Jose office. You will develop software for Alkira's CSX (Cloud Services Exchange), focusing on design, development, and debugging of web and mobile user interfaces that power the platform's networking functions.
Key responsibilities include:
- Build innovative, high-performing web experiences using React, Redux, and Hooks
- Develop scalable and reliable web applications and component libraries
- Design flexible, customizable solutions that respond quickly to product requirements
- Prioritize user experience, usability, and accessibility in every interface
- Work with relational databases (Postgres), REST APIs, Git, and CI/CD tools
- Expand test coverage across end-to-end automation, integration, and unit test suites
- Collaborate effectively both independently and as part of a distributed team
Required qualifications:
- B.S./M.S. in EE or CS (or equivalent)
- Excellent JavaScript programming and debugging skills
- Strong grasp of computer science fundamentals (algorithms, data structures, operating systems)
- 1-2+ years of professional React/Redux or modern framework experience
- Proficiency with HTML, CSS3, and JavaScript, including asynchronous programming, closures, types, and ES6
- Experience with CSS and Less/Sass in large-scale applications
- Experience with UI testing frameworks (Jest, Mocha, Cypress)
- Familiarity with web build tools and CI/CD pipelines
- Strong team collaboration skills
Nice-to-have: Node.js API development experience.
This is a hybrid role requiring onsite collaboration at the San Jose office. Candidates must be currently based in the San Francisco Bay Area and already authorized to work in the U.S. Visa sponsorship and relocation assistance are not available.
