As a Software Engineer – Trajectory Optimization, you will design and implement planning algorithms for autonomous ground vehicles operating in complex off-road and on-road terrain using local sensing. The role requires balancing algorithm fidelity and optimality against computational efficiency and robustness for high-speed movement across punishing terrain.
Key responsibilities include:
- Design and implement local trajectory optimization algorithms for autonomous ground vehicles
- Support rapid integration and adjustment of planning algorithms for diverse vehicles and sensing modalities
- Collaborate with other teams on shared codebase development
- Leverage significant offroad driving datasets to improve performance through regression and progression testing
- Participate in field tests, demonstrations, and product evaluation events
The ideal candidate has experience with model predictive control, system identification, and deep intuition for vehicle-terrain dynamics. This is a hands-on role requiring both algorithmic expertise and practical understanding of how physical platforms interact with real-world environments.
