Robinhood is building the infrastructure to bring both public and private equity to be tradable 24/7 on decentralized exchanges (DEXs) across the Robinhood Chain. The Tokenization team works at the intersection of blockchain technology, financial market infrastructure, and modern distributed systems, with a focus on accessibility, security, and scalability. As a Software Engineer on this team, you will design, build, test, and deploy backend services that mint, custody, and settle tokenized equities on the Robinhood Chain. Your work will be product-facing and mission-critical: the systems you build move real customer assets continuously around the clock, so correctness is non-negotiable. Key responsibilities include: - Design and deploy backend services for tokenized equity issuance, custody, and on-chain settlement - Develop product-facing features and platform enhancements meeting strict correctness and scalability standards - Build connective tissue between traditional market infrastructure (brokerage, ledgers, corporate actions) and on-chain systems, including smart contract integrations, chain indexers, and DEX trade flows - Identify and implement improvements to system performance, engineering productivity, and risk reduction - Collaborate with product, compliance, client, and platform teams to deliver technical solutions You bring 2+ years of software development experience with expertise in backend development using Go, Python, or Java, and a solid grasp of cloud-native architectures. You have strong system design and data modeling skills, with a deep care for correctness-critical systems—understanding idempotency, reconciliation, and failure modes when money is at stake. You demonstrate strong ownership, delivering high-quality projects end-to-end in cross-functional environments. Ideally, you have interest in blockchain fundamentals (EVM, smart contracts, wallets, on-chain settlement) or a strong appetite to learn quickly. The role is based in Toronto with in-person attendance expected at least 3 days per week. Robinhood believes in the power of in-person work to accelerate progress, spark innovation, and strengthen community.
