Baseten is a Series F AI infrastructure company ($1.5B valuation) that powers mission-critical inference for leading AI companies including Cursor, Notion, Abridge, and Writer. The company provides applied AI research, flexible infrastructure, and developer tooling to help frontier AI companies bring cutting-edge models into production. You will join the Platform team within Infrastructure as a senior software engineer owning Baseten's end-to-end testing strategy and infrastructure. This is a high-leverage, org-wide builder role focused on making testing the path of least resistance across the engineering organization. Key responsibilities include: - Defining testing standards, tiers, and tooling across the company - Building and maintaining unit, integration, load, and performance testing frameworks - Designing end-to-end test infrastructure that provisions realistic dependencies on demand (ephemeral Kubernetes namespaces, containerized services) - Implementing resilience and chaos testing capabilities (fault injection, network simulation, pod/node failure scenarios) - Eliminating test suite unreliability through flake detection, test impact analysis, and CI optimization - Building observability into the testing layer (coverage reporting, dashboards, failure triage) - Creating project templates and shared libraries for new services - Partnering with product and infrastructure teams to embed solutions - Mentoring engineers across the organization on testing practices You should have strong proficiency in Go and/or Python with hands-on experience building test tooling. Deep familiarity with testing frameworks (pytest, Go testing, testify, testcontainers) and the ability to extend them is essential. You need practical experience designing integration test infrastructure for distributed systems, load/performance testing tools (k6, Locust, Vegeta), and solid Kubernetes/Docker fundamentals. Advanced CI/CD knowledge and a track record of measurably improving testing culture are required. This role suits engineers comfortable with ambiguous, high-impact technical challenges and excited about foundational infrastructure.
