Mach9 is a Y Combinator-backed startup transforming civil infrastructure design with AI-powered geospatial tools. The platform accelerates engineering deliverable creation from raw data, reducing manual drafting time by 96×. As a Test Automation Engineer (SDET), you will own the accuracy and reliability of automated checks that span the entire workflow—from data upload through deliverable export—in a browser-based 3D CAD platform. You'll work closely with platform engineers to ensure regressions are caught by tests rather than customers, enabling faster shipping with confidence. Your responsibilities include growing automated coverage across the CAD editor and drive pages, evolving test infrastructure and CI pipelines to maintain speed and reliability as coverage expands, and building tools for coding agents to reproduce failures and diagnose regressions. You'll eliminate flaky tests so that failing builds always indicate real bugs, make the 3D editor more testable for automated CAD workflow validation, and help other engineers write testable code with durable tests. You bring 3+ years of experience building and maintaining automated test suites for production web applications using Playwright, Cypress, WebdriverIO, or similar tools. You're proficient in TypeScript or JavaScript and comfortable reading and modifying application code. You have hands-on experience building or substantially evolving E2E test frameworks (fixtures, test data, isolation, parallel execution, flakiness control) and integrating tests into CI while keeping pipelines fast and reliable. Experience with performance regression tracking and testing CAD, 3D, geospatial, mapping, high-performance editor, or gaming products is valued. Interest in AI-assisted development and using agents to improve software quality is a plus. The team works from the SoMa office in San Francisco five days a week with flexibility when needed. Visa sponsorship is available.
