Ethos is a life insurance technology company transforming how insurance is bought, sold, and underwritten through a three-sided platform serving consumers, agents, and carriers. The company offers instant, accessible life insurance products with no medical exams required, just a few health questions. As a Software Engineer, Test, you will design and implement test automation frameworks built from the ground up to support Ethos's platform. You'll work alongside experienced engineers in the InsureTech space, focusing on clean, modular, and high-performing code. Key responsibilities include: - Act as a quality advocate, collaborating with software engineers, designers, and product managers to release high-impact products - Design and deliver risk-based test plans for new features, selecting appropriate testing methods (scenario, exploratory, scripted, manual, automated) - Ensure vertical releases meet deadlines without compromising quality - Partner with software engineers to identify coverage gaps, automate repeated tasks, and build regression test coverage - Provide reliable feedback on new functionality, features, and process improvements - Uncover and prevent corner-case defects You should have 3–6 years of software development or test framework development experience. Required skills include proficiency in at least one programming/scripting language (JavaScript, Java, Python), familiarity with CI/CD and cloud infrastructure (AWS/GCP), and hands-on experience with automation frameworks (TestNG, Cypress, Selenium, Rest Assured, Cucumber, Jest). You should understand test-driven development and be able to develop unit, integration, and functional tests. The ideal candidate is self-directed, deeply curious, detail-oriented, has excellent communication skills, and is willing to challenge existing practices to drive improvement.
