The Risk Platform team builds the decisioning infrastructure protecting 150,000+ businesses moving over $260 billion annually across 150+ countries and 60+ currencies. This infrastructure processes billions of events daily using streaming pipelines, graph databases, ML models, and LLM agents to detect fraud and ensure transaction safety in milliseconds.
As the first SDET on the Risk Platform team, you will establish quality standards and practices for risk-critical systems. You are an engineer first, responsible for building automation, tooling, and infrastructure that enable safe, rapid deployment.
Key responsibilities include:
- Design and maintain end-to-end and regression automation across risk decisioning flows (KYC/KYB, merchant risk, transaction scoring, screening) integrated into CI/CD pipelines
- Establish stable, reproducible test data and isolated environments with realistic fraud and jurisdiction scenarios
- Introduce and own contract testing between Risk Platform and upstream/downstream services
- Build jurisdiction-specific coverage validating regional rules, thresholds, and regulatory requirements
- Define and enforce release-quality gates and design post-release verification (smoke tests, monitoring-backed checks)
- Own testing and release acceptance for major client-facing projects, partnering with engineering and product
- Champion testability and quality across the team, mentoring engineers on test design and automation
You will work in a self-directed, Agile environment tackling complex, high-visibility problems with exceptional teammates. The role emphasizes using AI to accelerate testing, including LLM-assisted test generation, coverage analysis, and failure triage.
REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Experience as an SDET / Software Engineer in Test with strong programming skills and proven track record building test frameworks (not just writing test cases)
- Solid experience testing large-scale distributed backend systems: REST APIs, message-driven flows, and service-to-service integrations
- Hands-on experience with API and E2E automation, CI/CD, contract testing, and managing test data and environments (or ability to build these from scratch)
- Strong understanding of test reliability: deterministic data, isolated environments, and fast feedback loops
- Ability to use AI to accelerate testing (LLM-assisted test generation, coverage analysis, failure triage) and help define testing approaches for ML models and LLM agents
- Comfort working in self-directed, Agile teams with excellent written and verbal communication
Preferred Qualifications:
- Exposure to risk, fraud, payments, compliance, or other regulated financial domains
- Experience testing systems with jurisdiction- or region-specific behavior
- Experience with contract testing tools (e.g., Pact) and building test-data/environment tooling from scratch
- Experience using AI/LLM tools in testing workflows or testing ML/LLM-based systems (evaluation harnesses, non-deterministic outputs)
- Performance and latency testing for systems on the critical path
