Snowflake is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join the SnowConvert AI team, which builds an AI-driven migration product that moves data-centric applications to Snowflake significantly faster than industry standards. The team combines AI-based code conversion with rigorous validation to ensure migrated systems are semantically equivalent to their source and production-ready. You will develop fundamental code conversion techniques, robust data migration and validation pipelines, and automatic testing components that power automated AI agents processing complete application migrations. Your work sits at the intersection of the original SnowConvert team, the AI team, and field development engineering, requiring careful API design that can adapt to an ever-changing landscape of AI capabilities. You'll iterate closely with the FDE team to gather rapid feedback on prototypes and early products. The role emphasizes high agency—taking ownership, navigating ambiguity, and independently pushing projects forward. You'll contribute to backend architectures and distributed systems that support fast, consistent code conversion at scale. REQUIREMENTS: - Strong software engineering experience in Python, with focus on performance, reliability, and distributed systems - Hands-on experience building agentic AI applications, especially in domains such as computer control or code generation - Track record of contributions to open-source agentic frameworks such as LangChain, AutoGen, or similar - Deep understanding of distributed systems, API design, and backend architectures - High agency and ability to take ownership, navigate ambiguity, and independently push projects forward STRONGLY DESIRED: - Experience with GoLang for high-performance backend services - Strong understanding of big data transformation, ETL, and ELT pipelines - Proficiency in Spark, Airflow, dbt, Kafka, or other data engineering tools - Familiarity with streaming architectures, event-driven systems, and async processing - Experience optimizing large-scale data pipelines for performance and cost efficiency - Background as a founding engineer who has built and owned significant technical projects
