Coinbase is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for the Security Platform Engineering (SPE) team. This role focuses on architecting and developing platform capabilities for critical security, compliance, and privacy use cases across the organization.
Key responsibilities include:
- Architect and develop scalable platform services for the security platform engineering organization
- Provide technical structure and strategic guidance to teams, working closely with management and stakeholders to define roadmaps
- Build new services using Golang and Java to meet critical product and business needs
- Design scalable systems addressing novel problems using modern cloud technology and industry best practices
- Manage project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables with strong technical expertise
- Mentor and train team members on design techniques and coding standards
- Articulate long-term vision for maintaining and scaling backend systems
- Collaborate with engineers, designers, product managers, and senior leadership to translate product and technical vision into quarterly roadmaps
- Write high-quality, well-tested code; debug complex technical problems; improve system operability and deployment
- Review feature designs across the company for cross-cutting projects, owning security, safety, scale, operational integrity, and architectural clarity
Required qualifications:
- 3+ years of software engineering experience
- Proven track record designing, building, scaling, and maintaining production services with service-oriented architecture knowledge
- Strong system design and coding skills
- High-quality code writing with comprehensive testing practices
- Excellent written and verbal communication with bias toward transparent practices
- Responsible use of generative AI with human oversight for business-ready outputs
- Passion for building an open financial system
