Glydways is building a next-generation autonomous transit system—carbon-neutral, interconnected pathways with standardized autonomous vehicles on dedicated roadways. The company operates 24/7 with on-demand access, targeting high capacity, affordability, and minimal environmental impact.
The Developer Platform team, part of Software Foundations and Architecture, owns the infrastructure enabling all developers to build, deploy, and operate Glydways software. Since Glydways vehicles carry passengers, a significant portion of the codebase is safety-critical and must be developed to SIL-4 under CENELEC railway standards (EN 50128 / EN 50716). This role develops the tools and processes that make certification provable and auditable.
Key responsibilities include:
- Design, build, and launch tooling to classify, review, and sign off SIL-4 code
- Develop lightweight web-based applications and reports showing safety posture to engineers and auditors
- Maintain and improve the Bazel build system for speed, reliability, and usability
- Enhance developer workflows including build, lint, code coverage, and testing for C++, Python, and Go
- Collaborate with software teams to improve continuous integration (CI) using AWS and Buildkite
- Develop and deploy automation tools for change submission, integration testing, and dependency management
- Design and implement monitoring services for internal process performance and stability
- Participate in on-call rotation supporting shared developer infrastructure
Required experience includes working in regulated or safety-critical domains with familiarity of functional safety standards (EN 50128, EN 50716, IEC 61508, or ISO 26262). Candidates should understand certification evidence requirements: traceability, tool qualification, and auditable review/approval records. Experience integrating static analysis or coding-standard enforcement (MISRA, Parasoft, Coverity, clang-tidy) into CI is essential.
Strong knowledge of build systems, git, GitHub, code review, testing frameworks, and deployment frameworks is required. Direct Bazel experience is a significant plus. CI/CD best practices and Buildkite experience are valued. Familiarity with front-end web development (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, or modern frameworks) for building internal tools and dashboards is needed. Experience developing tools in Python or Go, Linux proficiency, AWS or similar cloud platform knowledge, and on-call support/incident management experience round out the profile.
