Helsing develops AI-enabled capabilities to protect and defend democracies. The company builds Altra, an AI-powered drone software platform, and HX-2, an autonomous drone system. This role focuses on building systems-level software for Altra, Helsing's drone platform, primarily in Rust.
You will design and build Rust services across the Altra platform, working on low-latency, high-reliability systems that power autonomous capabilities in challenging operational environments. The role spans the full stack, from networking and protocol implementation to application-level services. You'll collaborate with ML engineers to integrate AI/ML pipelines into the broader system and contribute to increasingly advanced autonomy features.
This is an individual contributor role for a strong systems programmer who thrives in performance-critical environments. Prior drone expertise is not required, but deep systems programming skills, understanding of low-latency design, and comfort with mission-critical reliability requirements are essential. You'll work on a product that directly impacts national security and democratic defense.
