Cloudflare is seeking a Software Engineer to join the Front Line (FL) group, which maintains and develops the main Cloudflare web server, processing over 100 million HTTP requests per second. You will work on the rules engine and associated control plane, collaborating with talented engineers to create new features that increase availability, safety, and reliability of the edge ecosystem.
In this role, you will improve current features, create new systems from scratch, and work closely with platform teams to build the world's largest web server. You'll be at the nexus of Cloudflare edge applications and operations, collaborating with most other product and engineering teams.
Key responsibilities include:
- Designing and implementing features for the rules engine and control plane
- Improving system performance, efficiency, and reliability
- Applying computer science fundamentals to solve distributed systems challenges
- Driving communication and consensus across teams
- Contributing to continuous improvement in both operations and product development
Desirable experience includes solid competencies in practical computer science, algorithms, data structures, and concurrency control. Performance engineering experience is valuable. Bonus skills include proficiency in Rust or Go, knowledge of web servers and protocols, distributed systems expertise, and understanding of web security standards.
