Alkira, a Lumen company, is building a programmable platform to connect, secure, and operate enterprise cloud, sites, data centers, and AI workloads. The QA & Automation team serves as the quality gate for every product release, owning an in-house automated test framework built on Python, Terraform, and Jenkins that runs large-scale regression suites continuously across AWS, Azure, GCP, and OCI.
In this role, you will work in a fast-paced, geographically distributed team to solve critical customer problems. You'll collaborate closely with product development and engineering teams to understand testing requirements and develop comprehensive test plans. Your responsibilities include designing and developing the automation framework, building and maintaining automation scripts for continuous functional regression testing, and analyzing customer-found defects to identify and cover test gaps.
You'll also contribute to scaling and performance tests that validate the platform's ability to handle customer growth and traffic, develop Terraform-driven deployment automation for large customer onboardings, and participate in product documentation reviews. The role emphasizes problem-solving, continuous innovation, and cross-timezone collaboration.
**Requirements:**
- 2+ years of experience in highly technical QA and automation roles
- Very strong Python programming skills
- Experience with networking product testing and understanding of management, control, and data plane architecture
- Hands-on experience with standard TCP/IP protocols (ARP, IP, ICMP, TCP, UDP)
- Good knowledge and experience with networking protocols (BGP, VxLAN, IPSec, L3)
- Experience and domain knowledge with cloud-based deployments (AWS/Azure/GCP preferred)
- Experience with RESTful APIs
- Strong troubleshooting and debugging skills
- Familiarity with virtualization technologies (QEMU/KVM, VMWare ESXi, Docker)
- Familiarity with network virtualization technologies (SDN, overlay protocols like VxLAN, DPDK, VNF)
- Experience with firewalls or SD-WAN devices is a plus
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to quickly grasp new concepts
