Okta is seeking a Software Engineer to join its newly formed Professional Services R&D team, a strategic group focused on designing and building reusable, scalable assets and tools that empower delivery teams and partners globally. This role offers the opportunity to work on high-impact solutions that directly improve customer success and accelerate time-to-value with Okta's identity and access management platform.
You will design, develop, test, and deploy high-quality software assets across a diverse technology stack including Java, React, Node.js, Python, and .NET. Your responsibilities include collaborating with technical architects, delivery consultants, and product managers to identify innovation opportunities and define project requirements. You'll write clean, maintainable, well-documented code; create proofs-of-concept and prototypes to explore new technologies; and engage with field teams and partners to gather feedback and ensure solutions are effective and user-friendly.
The role also includes contributing to engineering best practices and mentoring team members. This is a ground-floor opportunity to shape the future of Okta's professional services offerings and work on solutions leveraged by thousands of customers worldwide.
Required qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience, plus 3+ years of professional software development experience. You should be proficient in at least one of Java, Python, Node.js, or C# (.NET), with experience in modern front-end frameworks like React. Strong fundamentals in software engineering principles, data structures, and algorithms are essential. Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and CI/CD pipelines is a plus. Familiarity with Identity and Access Management (IAM) concepts is highly desirable but not required. Excellent problem-solving skills and strong communication and collaboration abilities are critical.
