Neo4j is seeking a Software Engineer to join the founding team of the Product Analytics Platform, a new initiative within Neo4j Aura (the company's managed cloud offering). This is a high-impact role focused on building the foundational infrastructure for product analytics across the organization. The Product Analytics Platform team will own the Analytics API and underlying infrastructure that collects raw product analytics events from across Neo4j's products. Currently, each product team tracks its own data independently, making retrieval difficult. This role involves designing and building a unified, purpose-built solution that provides a single integration contract for all engineering teams. Key Responsibilities: - Design, build, and operate the Analytics API and underlying infrastructure, defining the schema and integration contract used across Aura - Make pragmatic architectural decisions around event ingestion, data contracts, reliability, and scalability - Build a simple, well-defined integration layer that enables product teams to send analytics events without coupling to underlying infrastructure - Drive adoption across the engineering organization, providing guidance and documentation to teams integrating with the API - Keep product analytics and billing concerns cleanly separated - Evaluate build vs. buy decisions across the analytics and data stack (e.g., Segment, BigQuery), keeping the API focused on collection - Partner with downstream data pipeline teams to ensure raw events are reliable, well-structured, and usable - Define and evolve the platform through RFCs, technical documentation, and cross-functional collaboration You'll have significant ownership over API design, balancing the needs of multiple product teams with long-term platform maintainability. Close collaboration with Product Management and other engineering teams is essential to shape the solution and drive adoption as the platform grows. Requirements: - Strong backend software engineering experience with Go as primary language, building and operating APIs, services, or ingestion systems that other teams depend on - Experience designing well-defined APIs and integration contracts, including schemas, backwards compatibility, validation, and consumption patterns - Production experience building services in Go, from utilities and scripts through larger, long-running services or microservices - Familiarity with TypeScript or JavaScript and ability to work comfortably in codebases spanning backend and frontend technologies (primarily a backend role; no UI development responsibility) - Experience with event-driven systems, data ingestion, or data pipeline tooling such as Segment, BigQuery, or similar - Ability to work independently in new areas, make pragmatic technical decisions, and drive work forward with limited direction - Comfortable writing RFCs and technical documentation, and working across teams to establish and drive adoption of new integration points - Clear, concise communication skills—the role involves defining contracts, documenting decisions, and helping engineers integrate with your work Nice to Have: - Experience with observability (tracing, logging, metrics) - Experience integrating with GCP, AWS, or Azure - Background in product analytics, event tracking, or telemetry systems
