Snowflake is seeking a Software Engineer to join the Postgres team, which is building a managed Postgres experience within the Snowflake platform. This role focuses on the control plane and user model that enable customers to provision, manage, secure, and operate Postgres instances in Snowflake.
You will design and build backend services powering provisioning, lifecycle management, and configuration of Snowflake Postgres instances. Key responsibilities include developing features in the access and user model (authorization, secure administration flows, customer-facing management capabilities), improving reliability and observability of asynchronous workflows and background systems, and partnering with product, security, and engineering teams to deliver simple customer experiences on complex infrastructure.
You will investigate production issues, participate in on-call rotations, and drive fixes that improve resilience and reduce operational burden. You'll also contribute to technical design, code review, and mentoring while raising the engineering bar across the team.
Ideal candidates have 2+ years building production software in backend, infrastructure, or distributed systems environments. Strong programming skills in Java, Go, C++, or Python are required, along with solid computer science fundamentals (concurrency, networking, APIs, data structures). You should have experience designing and operating reliable services in production, including debugging, monitoring, and incident response, plus experience working across technical boundaries with product, security, and other engineering teams. A BS/MS in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent practical experience) is expected.
Nice-to-have skills include PostgreSQL or database internals experience, managed database platform knowledge, identity/authorization/RBAC or security-sensitive systems experience, cloud infrastructure experience (AWS, Azure, GCP), and workflow orchestration or control plane systems experience.
This is a strategic product area expanding Snowflake into transactional and operational database workloads, offering meaningful ownership, strong technical challenges, and growth opportunities.
