With ~200 employees globally in a fully distributed setting, Speechify is building products that remove reading barriers for people with dyslexia, ADD, and other learning differences.
The Platform team is responsible for all backend services including payments, analytics, subscriptions, text-to-speech engines, and external APIs. This role focuses on designing, developing, and maintaining robust APIs—including the public TTS API and internal systems for payments, subscriptions, authentication, and consumption tracking. You'll oversee the full backend API landscape, optimizing for performance and maintainability while collaborating with cross-functional teams to align architecture with product strategy.
Key responsibilities include building scalable backend services, enhancing API performance, collaborating on B2B enterprise solutions, and working closely with product and frontend teams. The ideal candidate has proven backend development experience with TypeScript/Node.js (required), direct GCP experience, and knowledge of AWS, Azure, or other cloud providers. Docker and Kubernetes experience is preferred. You should be efficient at ideation and implementation, prioritizing tasks by urgency and impact.
