Speechify is a text-to-speech platform used by over 50 million people to convert PDFs, books, Google Docs, articles, and websites into audio. The Platform team is responsible for building and maintaining all backend services including payments, analytics, subscriptions, new products, text-to-speech infrastructure, and external APIs. This role is ideal for someone who thinks strategically, thrives in fast-paced environments, and is passionate about making product decisions that delight users.
Key responsibilities include:
- Design, develop, and maintain robust APIs including the public TTS API, internal APIs (Payment, Subscription, Auth, Consumption Tracking), ensuring they meet business and scalability requirements
- Oversee the full backend API landscape, enhancing and optimizing for performance and maintainability
- Collaborate on B2B solutions, focusing on customization and integration needs for enterprise clients
- Work closely with cross-functional teams to align backend architecture with overall product strategy and user experience
Required qualifications:
- Proven backend development experience with TypeScript/Node.js
- Direct experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
- Knowledge of AWS, Azure, or other cloud providers
- Efficiency in ideation and implementation, prioritizing tasks based on urgency and impact
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience with Docker and containerized deployments
- Proficiency in deploying high-availability applications on Kubernetes
