Salary: USD 30,000 - 120,000 / annual

With ~200 employees globally in a fully distributed setting, Speechify is building products that remove reading barriers for people with learning differences like dyslexia and ADD.
The Platform team is responsible for all backend services including payments, analytics, subscriptions, text-to-speech engines, and external APIs. As a Software Engineer on this team, you will design, develop, and maintain robust APIs that power Speechify's products at scale. Key responsibilities include building and optimizing the public TTS API, internal APIs for payments, subscriptions, authentication, and consumption tracking. You'll oversee the full backend API landscape, enhance performance and maintainability, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to align backend architecture with product strategy and user experience. You'll also work on B2B solutions, focusing on customization and integration needs for enterprise clients.
The ideal candidate has proven backend development experience with TypeScript/Node.js (required), direct experience with Google Cloud Platform, and knowledge of AWS, Azure, or other cloud providers. Preferred qualifications include Docker and containerized deployments, as well as proficiency in deploying high-availability applications on Kubernetes. You should be efficient in ideation and implementation, able to prioritize tasks based on urgency and impact, and thrive in a fast-paced environment where you can think strategically and make product decisions.
