Salary: USD 140,000 - 200,000 / annual
Speechify is a consumer app with 50+ million users that converts text to speech, enabling faster reading and better comprehension. The company is 100% distributed with ~200 employees globally, including engineers from Amazon, Microsoft, Google, and Stanford.
The Platform team owns all backend services: payments, analytics, subscriptions, text-to-speech APIs, and external integrations. This role focuses on designing, developing, and maintaining robust APIs including the public TTS API and internal systems for payments, subscriptions, authentication, and consumption tracking.
Key responsibilities:
- Design and develop scalable backend APIs meeting business and performance requirements
- Oversee the full backend API landscape, optimizing for performance and maintainability
- Collaborate on B2B solutions with focus on enterprise customization and integration
- Work cross-functionally to align backend architecture with product strategy and UX
Required qualifications:
- Proven backend development experience with TypeScript/Node.js
- Direct GCP experience; knowledge of AWS, Azure, or other cloud providers
- Strong ideation and implementation skills with task prioritization
Preferred:
- Docker and containerized deployments
- Kubernetes and high-availability application deployment
