MURAL's Platform Engineering team builds the tools and services that accelerate the software development life cycle for engineers across the organization. The team maintains and evolves the backbone of the platform—including build infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, GitHub integrations, testing tools, and release automation—enabling seamless user experiences and fostering innovation company-wide.
As a Platform Engineer, you will drive performance and efficiency of the software development lifecycle. You'll be responsible for understanding, maintaining, and evolving existing systems while designing and implementing advanced automation tools and optimized workflows. Your work directly enhances development cycle performance, boosting productivity and quality across the entire development team.
Key responsibilities:
- Design, implement, and maintain build infrastructure for large Typescript and NodeJS codebases
- Collaborate with software developers and platform engineers to define and refine CI/CD processes and best practices
- Identify and address bottlenecks, performance issues, and opportunities for automation within the development pipeline
- Develop and maintain scalable platform features, ensuring reliability, availability, and scalability of software delivery processes
- Care deeply about the problems and needs of internal customers (engineers in the organization), training and supporting them to better use the tools you build
REQUIREMENTS:
- 5+ years of experience working on backend, integrations, or CI/CD pipelines of a high-performing engineering team
- Experience building reusable components and libraries with understanding of scalable architecture
- Excellent communication skills with focus on documenting solutions and providing clear technical guidance
- Strong sense of ownership over critical problem areas
- Thorough understanding of Linux, Docker, and CI tools like GitHub Actions or similar
- Experience designing, implementing, and documenting API services
- Understanding of NodeJS and Typescript ecosystems and their automated build and testing tools (preferred)
- Kubernetes, Python, Golang, Terraform, and Azure Cloud knowledge (preferred)
- Experience managing stateful Kubernetes workloads, including operating, scaling, troubleshooting, and improving reliability of production-grade services
- Comfortable designing and programming custom operators to automate platform workflows and extend infrastructure capabilities
- Experience designing and building AI-powered platform capabilities that improve developer productivity or enhance CI/CD, observability, testing, and release processes
- Proactive, ownership-driven approach to troubleshooting and supporting critical technical areas
- Experience making data-driven decisions
