Salary: USD 30,000 - 65,000 / annual
Speechify is a text-to-speech platform used by over 50 million people to convert PDFs, books, Google Docs, articles, and websites into audio. With ~200 employees globally in a fully distributed setting, Speechify is building products that remove reading barriers for learners, particularly those with dyslexia and ADD.
The Platform team is responsible for all backend services including payments, analytics, subscriptions, text-to-speech processing, and external APIs. This role focuses on designing, developing, and maintaining robust APIs that power Speechify's core offerings.
Key responsibilities include:
- Design and develop public TTS APIs and internal APIs (Payment, Subscription, Auth, Consumption Tracking)
- Oversee the full backend API landscape, optimizing for performance and maintainability
- Collaborate on B2B solutions with focus on enterprise customization and integration
- Work cross-functionally with product and design teams to align backend architecture with product strategy
Required qualifications:
- Proven backend development experience with TypeScript/Node.js
- Direct experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
- Knowledge of AWS, Azure, or other cloud providers
- Strong ability to prioritize tasks based on urgency and impact
Preferred qualifications:
- Docker and containerized deployment experience
- Kubernetes and high-availability application deployment
