Halter is a venture-backed agtech company transforming grazing management through innovative technology. You'll be the first software engineer on the People Ecosystem team, building internal people and performance products that power Halter's rapid scaling. The role involves building full-stack products across talent acquisition and people management. You'll design and ship systems that connect hiring, HR, payroll, and performance data into a unified, trusted view for leaders and managers. Examples of what you might build include: automating performance calibration workflows, identifying high-performing hiring channels, designing structured onboarding experiences, and creating a single source of truth for employee journeys from application through promotion. You'll own the complete product lifecycle—scoping, architecting, building, testing, deploying, and iterating. You'll establish engineering foundations (repos, CI/CD, code review processes) and work closely with product managers for Talent and People, gaining exposure to the entire employee lifecycle. You'll report to the Manager of People Ecosystems and collaborate with Halter's broader engineering and product teams. The company is office-first (based in Auckland) but flexible when needed. Halter is backed by tier-1 investors including Founders Fund, Bessemer Venture Partners, and DCVC, and is growing rapidly with plans to double headcount soon.
